Redesign Bahnhof Offenbach Marktplatz

Make Offenbach Marktplatz station more attractive, clearer and more contemporary! That was on the task that Deutsche Bahn faced at the beginning of 2019. The S-Bahn station is part of the larger Zukunftbahnhof program and is the only station that is located underground. Blom&Moors was commissioned to improve the quality of the accommodation by means of redesign of the platforms and the development of new furniture. New ways of stay can be tried. Students of the Hochschule für Gestaltung were involved in the colorful transformation of the entrances. Customer satisfaction is currently being tested.

Our approach was first of all to make a compact analysis of the qualities present - such as the symmetrical structure of the space, striking lighting and the pleasantly wide platforms, but also of the jammers - such as the dirty light-colored floors and the illogical positions or superfluity of a number of objects.

By adjusting the order of the elements on the platforms according to the same platform layout principles that Blom&Moors previously developed for ProRail and NS, a better overview and a more logical use of the space was created. In addition to the seating elements (type Calidum) that we previously developed for DB, two more 'members' have been added to the modular and sustainable family of steel and bamboo elements: a minimalist designed leaning stand and a multifunctional desk with USB connections to be used as a place to work, read or eat some.
