The Mercatoplein is the central area of the borough De Baarsjes. In the redesign by Atelier Quadrat the square is considered a Berlagian room with a stone floor which runs from facade to facade. Horizontal and vertical rhythm of paving and furniture segment the area of the square.

On the open corner of the square is placed a stone seating that was designed by Blom&Moors. The element is a dynamic seating near the Berlage kiosk like a pivot in space. The bench may be used on both sides: with view on other users or on the vastness of the square and adjacent streets. The seating consists of three parts that together form a circle. The space between the parts comes from the running lines on the square. The seating has a pleasant profile with rounded corners and a recessed trough into the seat. It gives the seat element a subtle articulation in the length.
