Along the Quarles van Uffordlaan, in the hollow of the bend in the roadway, there's a new square. The buildings make up a high backdrop for two rather special furnishing elements: a slightly raised, planted island and a long, slightly curved bench. The bench tapers from broad to narrow and comprises a seat of wooden sections on a designed sturdy yet slender frame. A similarly curved back-rest has been placed on the broad side of the bench. The bench gives users the opportunity to choose the view, either towards the expansiveness of the roadway or towards the liveliness of the square.
The bench is made of a type of wood called FSC Guariuba and has been provided with a sustainable maintenance coating.
